FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The State Water Project is expecting to deliver 45 percent of the water requested by valley farmers.

Contractors will get, unless the allocation rises, as it has been each month, almost 1.9 million acre-feet of water.

The recent storms have boosted the state’s largest reservoirs to levels above their historic average.

While the Golden State will likely end this winter with near-average conditions, the effects of 4 years of severe drought will be felt for some time.
