FRESNO (KMJ) — The rainfall over the past few days has been pretty sizable here in the valley, and what’s more the much spoken on ‘Miracle March’ may have just come our way.
According to the National Weather Service, the precipitation we all saw fall from the skies since Friday has given us the best rainfall results we’ve had in a while.
“The total for the whole month of march so far is 2.93 inches”, says Meteorologist Brian Ochs. “1st through the 13th, and so that’s about the highest we’ve seen in five years actually”.
Their figures show Friday’s rainfall bringing the most down on the valley over the final days of last week.
“We’re pretty well above average. As far as I can tell we’re not expecting any more systems for the rest of this week, but we’ve been pretty much above average [for the month of March] so far”
On the higher elevations, significant snow came down too but exact measurements are still to be determined.
“It’s probably going to be several inches”, continues Ochs. “Maybe around a foot in the higher Sierra locations”.
Unfortunately, the precipitation was really only a weekend thing with a slight chance of rain predicted on Monday and the rest of the week back to sunny and relatively warm temperatures.
