FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — For the first time since June of 2015, California has failed to meet the 25 percent reduction in water use ordered by Governor Jerry Brown.
Urban water supplies reported a 24.8 percent cumulative savings, for the first 8 months since mandatory conservation got underway.
Water use dropped by 17.1 percent last month, compared to January of 2013; but, that’s likely due to the fact that the month was warmer than it was 3 years ago.
The winter storms have helped to ease the devastating effects of the prolonged drought. However, there’s still a long road to a complete recovery.
