El Nino on Hiatus

(KMJ)  El Niño is taking a break leaving drought-stricken California sunny and dry once again.

The National Weather Service says the weather system won’t return to the west coast for at least a week, or maybe two.

Southern California is experiencing record-breaking temperatures in the upper 80s while Fresno and the Central Valley will see high temps in the 70s.

The next round of rain locally could appear next Wednesday.

February is normally one of the wettest months of the year. But meteorologists say a blocking ridge of high pressure is keeping the rain away – for now.

Experts say there are still supposed to be about two more months of rain left.
