FRESNO (KMJ) — The ongoing battle against child exploitation on the Internet is continuing to be fought in the Central Valley.

In California, there are five Internet task forces to help protect the most vulnerable falling victim to exploitation online.

“Several times a year we come together as a group and have national meetings which we talk about key topics involving the Internet and the sexual exploitation of children”, says Sergeant Jeff Kertson with Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

He says it’s not just them on their own – some of the biggest names in tech take part to help support the endeavor:

“Often times we have groups such as Facebook and Google come and present presentations and it’s all in order to build a resource and come together to better fight the sexual exploitation of our children”.

Their efforts aren’t just investigative, but they go out of their way to educate too.

That includes going to big public events like the Big Fresno Fair, and going to schools themselves to tell the kids how to be safe online.
