(KMJ) New details are emerging from the brazen prison escape by three inmates in Orange County.
One of the escapees, Bac Duong, was ordered to be deported to his native Vietnam 16 years ago. But he remained in the U.S. due to a change in immigration laws.
It’s unclear why a judge ordered Duong to leave the country.
Another escapee, Hossein Nayeri, who grew up in Fresno, has been compared to “Hannibal Lecter” for his alleged crimes.
The Clovis West High School alum was due to stand trial on attempted murder and torture charges in February. Nayeri, who served in the Marines, is accused of kidnapping a man, burning him with a blowtorch and cutting off his penis.
In 2006, Nayeri was sentenced to 125 days in jail and four years’ probation for a deadly DUI crash that killed a friend in Madera. Shortly after the accident, Nayeri skipped bail and fled to Iran and lived with his mother. He was recaptured three years later in Washington D.C.
The trio have been on the run since breaking out on Friday, Jan. 22nd.
