FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Growers and cities who rely on the California State Water Project are now being offered a 15 percent allocation.
The Department of Water Resources credits the recent storms, which have brought significant snowfall, although the allocation is still lower than was delivered in 2015.
The project’s principal reservoir is only 39 percent full, and Lake Shasta, the primary reservoir for the federal Central Valley Project, is just 47 percent full.
However, the figures should improve, as El Nino is forecast to deliver more rain and snow.
