CHINO HILLS (KMJ) — The owner of the 7-Eleven in Chino Hills, which sold one of the three tickets to have won Wednesday’s Powerball Jackpot, has himself been presented with $1 million.

Balbir Atwal had the giant check handed to him by the California Lottery Thursday morning.

It was at his store which the lucky numbers were chosen to claim a share of the Powerball Jackpot.

“I was at home and my friend was calling me”, recounts Balbir as he remembered the night of the draw. “He said ‘somebody won from Chino Hills. Your store’. And I said ‘I don’t know'”.

“And I come here and my store was filled with my neighbors from here. It was so nice that so that everybody came from my neighborhood”

“I want to thank my community, they help me always”.

Although a part of the money is destined for 7-Eleven, he plans to give some of his share to charity and then spread the rest between his family, friends, and employees.

“Another one, I want to congratulate the person who won from here and I’m so happy for him”.

Winning tickets were also sold in Florida and Tennessee, but the winners themselves are yet to come forward.

Between them they’ll share the $1.586 billion prize.
