FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Peace officers would be required to securely store any handgun left in their vehicle, under a bill introduced by California State Senator Jerry Hill.
Firearms would have to be left in the trunk, or in a locked container out of plain sight.
Hill’s measure was written in response to deadly incidents involving guns stolen from law enforcement, like the killing of Kate Steinle, at the hands of a felon who had been deported to Mexico 5 times.
