UC Merced is breaking records with the number of applicants to the school.
Undergraduate applications for Fall 2016 reached a record high of 22,632.

UC Merced saw a 13.5 percent increase in first-year and transfer student applications over Fall 2015.
“The rate of growth is the highest among all campuses in the University of California system for the second consecutive year and more than double the systemwide growth rate of 6.4 percent.” – Brenda Ortiz, Senior Public Information Representative, UC Merced.
UC Merced leads the system in the percentage of applicants who are low-income or first-generation students.
The University also received 2,949 transfer student applications for Fall 2016, an increase of 27 percent compared with Fall 2015.
