January 6, 2015 (KMJ) Fresno – A bomb threat to San Luis Obispo buses shuts down service to all city buses, indefinitely.
Police in San Luis Obispo are looking for a man they say announced on a SLO Transit bus Wednesday morning that people should not ride city buses for the next week – because there may be a bomb on one of the buses.
All the buses were stopped and bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in.
About 12 to 15 buses need to be cleared, and everyone within 500 feet of where the buses are located have been evacuated.
Police say there is no belief at this time the threat is valid, but they are taking the necessary precautions to make sure everyone is safe.
The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) has also been notified about the threat.
There are no road closures currently in effect.
They say there is no reason at this time to suspect terrorism.
Video released by police shows the man making the announcement on the bus. He is described as being white, in his 20s, approximately 6′ tall with a thin build, brown hair and short beard. He was last seen wearing glasses and a black sweatshirt with a hood.
