Study Finds Childbirth Rivals Damage Endured By Athletes

CHILDBIRTH 2

Childbirth can take a toll on a woman’s body that rivals the damage endured by hardcore athletes —and a team of researchers has the MRI scans to prove it.

A University of Michigan team studied women — some with high-risk factors.

15% of the women suffered pelvic injuries that didn’t heal -even after doing Kegel exercises.

25% of the women scanned had the equivalent of a sports stress fracture.

Most revealing – nearly half the women (41%) who gave birth suffered muscle tears – sometimes the muscle detaching from the pubic bone.

So if you are six weeks postpartum, and you don’t feel fine — it’s likely not your imagination.
