FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Freddie Mac has named Fresno the healthiest housing market in the country.

City Spokesman Mark Standriff tells KMJ News, “It’s a great way to start off 2016. Our economy has stabilized, we’re finding more and more opportunities for jobs — especially in the tech sector — and we’re seeing folks from all over the country recognize that there is a lot of excitement happening in building here in Fresno.”

The latest Multi-Indicator Market Index shows that home purchase applications were up nearly 3.4 percent in October.

Trailing Fresno on the list: Austin, Texas, and Honolulu.
