FRESNO (KMJ) — We’re finally getting an active weather pattern – that’s how the National Weather Service describe it.

“Starting with weak one coming through today [Monday], a stronger one tomorrow [Tuesday], followed by another yet on Wednesday followed by two more on Thursday and Friday”, says National Weather Service Meteorologist Jim Dudley.

“As it looks like the El Niño pattern for the atmosphere is finally starting to kick in and bringing us some more rain and of course beneficial snow for the mountains”.

A chance of rain is forecast for every day this week and the forecast tells us we should be expecting between one to two inches in the San Joaquin Valley.

“Maybe three to four feet of new snow up in the Sierra before we’re done with this particular series of storms so it’s definitely going to increase the snow pack and pretty much be good for everybody”.

Further south there are fears that the weather will bring flash flooding to Los Angeles county and areas surrounding it, with mud and debris flowing down wildfire burn areas potentially causing problems.

Drivers there are being advised to be ready for the downpour, and the same advice goes for those getting behind the wheel here in the valley too.

If you’re heading out this week advice from the CHP is check weather conditions before you set out, slow down when roads are slippery, and leave plenty of room between yourself and vehicles ahead.
