FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The water content of the Sierra snowpack is now at 136 percent of normal, according to the first manual survey.

It’s encouraging, given that zero snow was found at the site back in April.

However, the California Department of Water Resources says the state has a long journey, before it can declare the drought over.

It’ll be more confident, if the April 1 snowpack is 150 percent of normal, and depleted reservoirs reach normal levels.

Forecasters are predicting more heavy rains.
