FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Fresno Police and the FBI are searching for suspects, following a weekend hate crime.
68-year old Amrik Singh Bal was waiting for a ride to work Saturday morning, near Shields and Brawley, when two men pulled up in a car and started yelling at him.
When Singh tried to cross the street, the men hit him with their car, then got out and started beating him in the face and upper body.
Singh is a Sikh man, and was wearing a beard and turban. Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer tells KMJ News, “It could be that they thought that he was some type of an extremist or terrorist.”
Singh was taken to the hospital, where he was treated for a broken collarbone and cuts to his face and hand.
