A planned gift is giving to Fresno State’s Food Bank.
“31% of our (fresno state) students surveyed are facing some sort of food insecurity.” -Jessica Medina, Coordinator, Food Security Project.
THat’s Jessica Medina, the Coordinator of the Food Security Project at Fresno State, says right now, more than 48,000 people are fed annually, Medina says they could feed even more, and now, thanks to an endowment from the Trevino Family, the student cupboard is getting a financial infusion.
“We have about 4,000 visitors each month right now, but it’s still not close to that 31 % that it could possibly be supporting.” -Jessica Medina, Coordinator, Food Security Project.
Now, the $25,000 dollar endowment from the Trevino Family will help.
Michael Trevino, Director of U.C. Undergraduate Admissions learned about the project from President Joseph Castro, even bringing his wife and two daughters to Fresno State to visit the student cupboard.
The family shared stories of the project with his aunt, they felt the endowment would be something that would live forever and provide a permanent source of funds for the student cupboard.”
They established the planned gift in honor of “Tia Linda.”
