Here’s a hint…. chili was involved….

It was their first Chili Cook-off, according to Merced Police Captain Tom Trindad.

“Actually, how this all started was because everybody comes around here and brags about how good their chili is, well, we decided we would have some fun with that and raise some money for a good cause.” – Captain Tom Trindad.

The Merced Fire Department joined in to judge the contest.

Eugene Drummond, the police department’s Community Liaison was chosen winner of the chili cook-off.

As a result of their very tasty fundraising efforts, the Merced Police Department gets to hand over a check for $800 dollars to Valley Children’s Hospital.
