FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The majority of city workers in the Central Valley earn significantly more in total compensation than the average taxpayer.

According to Transparent California, the average full-time city worker collected more than $104,000 last year, with 46% getting at least $100,000.

The think tank examined base pay, insurance benefits, and retirement pay.


The five highest-paid city workers of 2014:

Bakersfield City Manager Alan Tandy earned nearly $360,000.
 
Tracy Fire Chief Alford Nero received almost $356,000.

Bakersfield Police chief Greg Williamson was given more than $323,000.

Fresno City Manager Bruce Rudd collected just over $322,000.

Stockton City Manager Kurt Wilson was paid more than $308,000.
