(KMJ) Former NFL star Lawrence Phillips could be on his way to death row.
On Monday, prosecutors said new evidence proves that Phillips was “lying in wait” when he killed his cell mate at Kern Valley State Prison in Delano. A judge agreed and granted a motion of “special circumstance”. The new evidence, however, has not been made public.
Kern County District Attorney, Lisa Green, has not said whether she will seek the death penalty.
Phillips was already serving more than 30 years for convictions in several violent incidents.
