FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — New data indicates that weight bias continues to shape public opinion about the disease of obesity.
According to the Obesity Action Coalition and the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity, social acceptance of obesity has declined.
However, society generally agrees that obesity-focused shaming is wrong, and that the disease is more complicated than a mere lack of responsibility.
Still, the awareness hasn’t translated into acceptance of those who are overweight.
