(KMJ) – The Sacramento Police Department arrested a 28-year-old Elk Grove man Wednesday in connection with the stabbing of Paris train attack hero Spencer Stone.
Sacramento Police Chief Sam Somers says James Tran was arrested just before 7 a.m. on attempted homicide charges during a traffic stop on Highway 99. He also says Tran has an affiliation with a gang, a criminal history and a prior felony.
U.S. Air Force Airman Spencer Stone was stabbed during the early morning hours of Oct. 8 in Midtown Sacramento after a fight involving several other people near 21st Street.
Leading up to the stabbing, there was an argument between two groups involving Stone and Tran over video that was recorded. During the fight, Chief Somers sqays Tran circled around Stone and stabbed him multiple times in the back.
Stone, who is credited with stopping a terrorist attack along with three friends aboard a Paris-bound train, was taken to UC Davis Medical Center with three stab wounds to his torso. He underwent surgery and was released a week later.
