FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The California State Water Resources Control Board has fined the cities of Beverly Hills, Indio, Redlands, and the Coachella Valley Water District $61,000.

Governor Jerry Brown has ordered cities to cut water use by 25% compared to 2013, but those four cities failed to comply.

Statewide, water use declined by 26 percent in September, a level slightly lower than those seen during the summer.
