Central Valley Veterans’ Hospitality House Opens In Fresno

FRESNO (KMJ) — An ‘open house’ designed to give veterans or the families of veterans somewhere to stay in times of need, is set to be unveiled in Fresno.

Non-profit Central Valley Veterans bought a house in June – and since then have been bringing it up to standard to give those with loved ones in the v-a hospital a place to stay.

“We’ve been looking for a home for quite a while”, says the group’s Deb Riordan. “We want to use it as a hospitality house for the families of those staying at the VA hospital. It’ll be no cost to stay there and there’s nothing like that here in the valley”.

It’ll also be open to veterans who need emergency housing, and it all came about after an anonymous benefactor provided the funds needed to buy the building.

“We know that we get emergency calls from the DA, four or five times a year that we have a family or a loved one that doesn’t have a place to stay or can’t afford their own locale. So this is something that we’ve been wanting to do for three or four year

Central Valley veterans exist to ensure the area is “veteran friendly”, with 95% of their donations going towards charitable efforts.

The ‘open house’ takes place Thursday between 4pm and 7pm. They’re looking for donations to help support their cause and it’s open to the public.

The address is 2035 E. Princeton Avenue.
