FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — If the current trend continues, California will need over a million more college graduates than it’s expected to have by 2030.

According to the Public Policy Institute, the number of highly educated workers from elsewhere, won’t be substantial enough to bridge the workforce skills gap.

38% of jobs in the Golden State are predicted to require at least a bachelor’s degree by that time, but only about 33% of workers are expected to have them.

The report suggests increasing access to the UC and CSU systems, boosting community college transfers, and reforming financial aid.
