Stars, like Kim Kardashian, have used the waist trainers – inspiring non stars to use them.

Waist trainers aren’t new – the practice of tightlacing goes back to Victorian times.

Health experts say it makes you sweat more, and lose water weight – but not any fat, and extreme pressure as the abdomen is pushed into the chest– over time can lead to health problems – breathing difficulties, fainting, acid reflux, chronic constipation, even a hiatal hernia.

“It can be a small inclusion on an artery and that kidney will suffer greatly. It’s not a good idea.” -Nurse practitioner Jim Whited.

Stomach and back muscles can also weaken, because the corset is doing all the work to hold your body up….but some say fashion is pain.

Just make sure you can breathe, buy one made to fit, and don’t wear it for an extend period of time.
