(KMJ) – As the Storyland reopening celebration continues, its a “Once Upon a Time . . .” artwork contest now invites Valley children to draw a scene depicting their favorite story, character, or Storyland experience.
Selected artwork from four age categories will be printed in The Fresno Bee and appear on local Outfront Media
Billboards. Artists will also be honored during the December ArtHop reception in downtown Fresno.
Here are the Contest rules:
The art contest is open to children, preschool to sixth grade.
Entry forms are available online at www.savestoryland.com, can be picked up and dropped off during park hours at the Storyland ticket office (890 W. Belmont Ave. Fresno, CA 93728), or Monday – Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Jeffrey Scott Agency (670 P Street, Fresno, CA 93721).
Deadline for entries is October 30, 2015 by 5 p.m.
Finalists will be selected in November 2015, with The Fresno Bee running the first selected piece on Friday, November 13, 2015.
Any form of media can be used to produce the entry. However, it is important for students to keep in mind that the artwork selected will be scanned. Due to this type of reproduction method, artwork that has bold colors, contrast and shapes will likely be more effective.
The contest is open to all children, pre-school to sixth-grade, regardless of where or if they attend a specific school. The four age categories are: Kindergarten and under; grades 1 & 2; grades 3 & 4; and grades 5 & 6. Artwork from each age group will be reviewed by the Storyland Billboard Art Committee and sorted by grade categories.
