Calif. Legalizes Physician-Assisted Suicide

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation allowing doctors to prescribe fatal drugs to terminally ill patients.

He’s issued a personal statement, detailing his feelings on the matter.

Brown says he spoke to a Catholic bishop, a number of doctors, and friends, before being left to reflect on what he would want, in the face of his own death.

The measure makes California the 5th state to legalize physician-assisted suicide.
