Meatingplace reports Capital Cultivators LLC has submitted a proposal to the Turlock in Stanislaus County to the Planning Commission to build a pork packing facility in an industrial park.
The facility would include easy accessibility for tour groups and visitors as part of the design.
Company head Michael Lau said “we see an opportunity to educate and let people see where their food comes from.”
A permit hearing on the project is scheduled for early November.
Several other food processors are nearby, but their facilities cover nuts, cheeses and other goods. According to the planning documents, the facility would process 400 tons of meat annually in a 102,000-square-foot plant on a 10-acre site.
