(KMJ) – The Fresno Police were called to Kings Canyon and Fowler on Monday just after 10 a.m. for a vehicle burglary that had just occurred.
A citizen called the police and said he witnessed a person break the rear passenger window of a parked vehicle.
That citizen later identified as Luis Gardea and said he reached into the vehicle and took a purse, then fled the area on foot.
The citizen kept Gardea in sight and gave police dispatch updated information on his location.
Police Air support arrived and guided ground units to the suspect. Officers then detained Gardea and located the stolen purse in his possession.
He was arrested and booked into Fresno County Jail for burglary and being in possession of burglary tools.
