(KMJ) – Charlie Waters was a champion for veteran’s causes. On Saturday, the people he inspired and helped gathered at People’s Church to say farewell. People from all walks of life came to pay their respects to the tireless Marine who fought to build a veterans home in Fresno.
The Korean War vet had been in declining health the past few months and passed away in early September. His best friend Dan Payne said sleep and food came second to Charlie when it involves veteran’s issues.
His admirers say Waters will always be remembered as a proud Marine, a patriot and a champion who never stopped working for the men and women who fought for their country.
Graveside services for Waters will be held on Monday afternoon at 12:30 at San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
