FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The Fresno County Health Department recently confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus with a local hospital, raising the entire number of human cases in the golden state for 2015 to 108.

We’re now in peak season for the virus, and medical officials advise taking every precaution possible against mosquito bites.

Tips include using repellent, eliminating stagnant bodies of water, as well as ensuring that doors and windows have tight screens.
