CLOVIS (KMJ) — A ceremony to mark the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attack has taken place at the Pelco Schneider Electric facility in Clovis Friday morning.

Fire, police, and the public all came together as one to remember the fourteenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, which killed 2,977 people in New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania.

Crews from right across the valley were there for the memorial, which started which actual radio messages from dispatch on the morning of the event itself.

The flag in the center of the fixed memorial, around which the ceremony was taking place, was lowered to half mast and after a helicopter flypast and bagpipes came a three volley salute to honor those who were killed.

US Army Sergeant first class David Coss was amongst the personnel present at the ceremony.

“9/11 changed my life”, says Sgt. Coss. “Myself and the soldiers that I work with…we’ve actually had the opportunity to defend our nation from the events that happened on that September day”.

“From World War Two, people are forgetting that Pearl Harbor happened and so fifteen years later we’re hoping people never forget about 9/11”.

Former FDNY and current Clovis Fire Department crew member Andy Isolano was also among the uniformed personnel at the event.

“I couldn’t understand why I was here and others weren’t”, he revealed. “But for me I make it a point to do things on an everyday basis that make me worth having being spared that day”.

“It’s not something you could ever completely put out of your mind. But how I get through it is I think of my boys and how they have their Dad and a lot of guys’ kids don’t have their Dad”.
