Training Exercise Brings More Jets To Fresno

(KMJ) – Starting Thursday, members of the California Air National Guard’s 144th Fighter Wing in Fresno will be participating in a military exercise with visiting F-16 Fighting Falcons from Arizona’s 56th Fighter Wing.

The exercise, slated to run through September 25, will test the wing’s aircraft generation capabilities while also testing the combat flying skills of its F-15 Eagle pilots.

Approximately 120 members of the 56th Fighter Wing and 21st Fighter Squadron along with F-18 fighter jets from Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake’s VX-9 squadron will participate in the dissimilar air combat training.

During the exercise window, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., members of the local community may hear increased aircraft noise and see more military aircraft activity.
