FRESNO (KMJ) — The High Speed Rail authority is meeting the people whose homes and businesses lie in the $68 billion project’s pathway and others set to be affected by the new line.

It’s the public’s chance to speak directly to those making the decisions.

Looking on a map, the mega-project’s construction effort is now focused on the lower part of Fresno from Ventura Avenue south.

“Now we’re starting to move into the southern part of the city”, says Central Valley Regional Delivery Manager Terry Ogle. “So this is just an opportunity for people that are in this particular area to come and to find out what’s going on on the project”.

He adds that organizers have already started the process of informing locals whether or not their home needs to be demolished to make way for the rail line.

“It’s those people that are next door to those that are probably having that angst or that concern. They’re not being purchased because they’re not being impacted by High Speed Rail”.

The meeting will be in the Valley Wide Beverage Company on North Avenue and Highway 99 in south Fresno, between 5pm and 7pm Thursday night.
