(KMJ) The Rough Fire has grown to nearly 56,000 acres with containment at 25%.
The US Forest Service says 1,950 personnel are currently assigned to the lightning-sparked fire which continues to burn a few miles north of Hume Lake.
All campgrounds in Kings Canyon National Park are now closed until further notice. The Kings Canyon Visitor Center will be open with modified hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The General Grant Tree, Panoramic Point, park trails, John Muir Lodge, Grant Grove Cabins, restaurant, market, and gift shop are open.
More than 2,500 visitors and residents in the area have evacuated over the past week.
