FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Even amid hot, dry conditions, California water use dropped 31.3 percent in July, compared to the same month in 2013, exceeding the governor’s 25 percent mandate.
The savings of 74.6 billion gallons, is 4 times the amount of water saved in July of 2014, when the voluntary conservation goal was implemented.
According to the State Water Resources Control Board, local enforcement of water restrictions has ramped up.
Fresno saw a water conservation rate similar to the statewide figure in July, and the city wants to keep it that way, as the battle against the drought continues.
