(KMJ) – The Fresno County Sheriff’s search and rescue team is ramping up its efforts to locate a hiker still missing in the Sierra National Forest.
62-year old Miyuki Harwood got separated from her group early Friday morning. The group was hiking near Horsehead Lake, which is about 100 miles northeast of Fresno.
Wednesday morning, the state’s Office of Emergency Services and California National Guard will join the search. A Chinook helicopter and remote controlled drone will get involved in the operation.
The helicopter will deploy 25-30 more search team members, a few search dogs and supplies into the Sierra National Forest. The drone will be able to feed in real-time video images to ground personnel. The new search crew is prepared to spend the next five days in the wilderness.
