The great ferret debate is returning to California.
Secretary of State Alex Padilla says an initiative to legalize ferret ownership has been cleared to begin collecting signatures to appear on the 2016 ballot.
They’ve been prohibited pets in California since 1933.
One organization “legalizeferrets.org” had been rallying the past few years to pressure Sacramento into overturning a ban on the furry animal.
Organizers had said if it didn’t happen by this year – they’re weren’t going to pursue it any further.
