Crime trends from the Fresno Police Department are showing over the last 28 days, violent crime dropped by 5%.

“That demonstrates that some of the things that we have incorporated here as of late with the redeployment of our traffic unit up in the northwest, and policing unit saturating hot spots where there’s a propensity for violence – that’s working.” – Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer

Chief Dyer says over the last 14 days violent crime: homicide, rape and robbery – have dropped nearly 15%.

He’s glad to see those number go in the right direction – down.

Chief Dyer is also not letting up on his removal of gangs from Fresno.

“We’re going to be very, very focused on those individuals – and surgically remove them from these neighborhoods and make sure they are sent to prison for a long periods of time. And we’re talking about people that are violent gang members that are involved in shootings that continue to find their way into the criminal justice system.” -Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer

Chief Dyer says they are full speed ahead with targeting felons and gangs – and he says the new Gun Crimes Unit, and the Shotspotter System are absolutely assisting them in their crime fighting efforts.
