FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — President Obama has unveiled his Clean Power Plan, which over the next 15 years, will mandate that states address climate change, caused by coal-fired power plants.

Obama says, “We’ve seen stronger storms, deeper drought, [and] longer wildfire seasons.”

It’s not a problem for California, where we’ve already taken significant steps to combat climate change, through tougher regulations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The state’s carbon auctions and transition to sources of renewable energy, put it on track to meet the EPA’s target.

Governor Jerry Brown, a champion of environmental causes, calls the president’s Clean Power Plan “bold” and “absolutely necessary.”
