State Schools Chief Tom Torlakson to Unveil New Road Map for Education

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson will unveil a new action plan detailing the steps to take in the next four years to enhance learning, capitalize on the state’s recent progress, and provide all California children with a world-class education in the 21st century.

Education and business leaders from throughout the state will join him to launch the plan.

A Blueprint for Great Schools, Version 2.0 builds on the groundbreaking 2011 report A Blueprint for Great Schools, which helped transform California’s education system and turn the state into a national model.

At Torlakson’s request, education leaders and experts from across the state joined together to produce the new plan.

It focuses on how California can improve in five key areas: state standards, teaching and leading excellence, student success, continuous improvement and accountability systems, and systems change and supports.
