From Coarsegold – a missing dog might have broken a record for the dog paddle after swimming for hours to stay afloat.
Carolyn Hoover says her 11-year-old chocolate Laborador Retriever Sydney disappeared during Saturday night’s big storm.
“I had turned my back and went out to get her and she wasn’t anywhere around.” Carolyn Hoover, Sydney’s owner.
Carolyn Hoover and her husband asked around, even checked the neighbor’s swimming pool.
They searched with flashlights past dark,, made posters,,, put the lost dog on Facebook, and went to bed without Sydney by their side.
After church on Sunday, Carolyn says she felt called to explore an empty house for sale on her street.
She says she just had a hunch.
In the pool…. she spotted Sydney.
“I figured she would just be dead, right? She had probably been in this in-ground pool for 21 hours from 6:30 pm on Saturday to Sunday at 3:30 pm. just swimming the whole entire time.”
Carolyn says her dog is tired but recovering.
“My husband Guy said it’s equivalent to – I think it’s about 22 hours – to cross the English Channel.”
Sydney’s back home – the dog Carolyn calls “a miracle.”
