FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — President Obama has set a goal of having high-speed internet access in most schools by 2017.

Now, he’s promoting a program to take that increased bandwidth into the home.

The ConnectHome program aims to bring together communities, the private sector, and the federal government, to make high-speed internet available to more families, in hopes that students will be able to continue learning outside the classroom.

Fresno is among 27 cities chosen for the program, which includes Los Angeles, New York, Boston, and the District of Columbia.
