American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman says he will not seek reelection in January 2016 following 16 years at the helm of AFBF.
Stallman, a cattle and rice producer from Columbus, Texas, is the 11th president during AFBF’s almost 97-year history.
Stallman has also served six years as the Texas Farm Bureau president.
Stallman said it is time to hand over the reins of leadership, stating “I am as optimistic as ever about the future of American agriculture and Farm Bureau.”
Under Stallman, Farm Bureau membership nationwide has grown by more than one million member families.
A new AFBF president will be elected to a two-year term at the 97th annual meeting of voting delegates during the organization’s annual convention in January.
