Fresno PD’s new high-tech way to fight crime is unveiled.
On the second floor of police headquarters is the Real Time Crime Center.
Imagine what looks like a TV station control room with 55 monitors, 8 workstations, staffed by 4 officers 24/7 all to keep an eye on crimes.
Data comes from 911 calls to police dispatch and through the Beware System.
Over a thousand cameras are stationed across the city, at traffic sites, Fresno Unified School District, malls, and hospitals.
The Beware color codes incidents – red being highest priority – and maps it out so police can see real time images for the 600+ most dangerous calls they get on a daily basis.
Chief Dyer calls it the backbone to Fresno crimefighting.
