A fatal train in accident, Thursday morning in Downtown Fresno.
At around 11:30a.m. police were called to the railroad tracks by Ventura and G Street near the 41 overpass, in the area next to the Fresno Rescue Mission.
Fresno Police Sergeant John Romo says the victim was a man in his 50’s in a wheel chair.
“He was next to the tracks from what I understand by the conductor, he was sitting next to the tracks they saw him from a distance of some 500 to 1000 feet. they started sounding the horn, and who ever it was they did not move and then the vehicle passed by and struck him.” – Sgt. John Romo.
Police are working to identify the victim and notify next of kin.
“I believe it going to be a suicide, but we don’t know, i don’t know if the victim had any hearing impairments or what not.” – Sgt. John Romo.
