FRESNO (KMJ) — A new app that gives Fresno residents a direct link to city hall is now available to download.

The ‘FresGo’ application has been designed to report and photograph things like local pot holes or busted street lights, to let the people who can fix it know exactly where it is.

Mayor Ashley Swearengin calls is a one stop shop for all city services and it’s now available on both Android and iOS platforms. It’s part of an overall program for the city to improve what it does for its residents.fres-go

“For example street lights right now”, says City Manager Bruce Rudd. “With this you’re able to consolidate that work by geographical area because you know where they’re at. Therefore you’re more efficient because you spend less time driving around to the next stop”.

Right now the app can be used to report broken street lights and pot holes, with functions to report illegal dumping and graffiti set to be added in the coming weeks.

“All you have to do is tell us where the problem is”, says Mayor Ashley Swearengin. But she warned it may take some time for city workers to get used to its new abilities.

“The government is now one touch away”, says Fresno City Councilwoman Esmeralda Soria. “I’m confident that with this application the issues in our neighborhoods will be resolved”.

The app cost $48,000 to develop and as well as giving residents a means of communicating directly with the city, it’s also designed to give the city the means to push notifications to phones in a time of emergency.
