Fresno (KMJ) Bakersfield Police are mourning the loss of one of their officers who was killed in a crash after a high speed pursuit.
The accident happened 2:30am Friday near Bakersfield College. First responders say David Nelson’s squad car slammed into a brick wall and burst into flames.
The CHP is now investigating the incident while BPD continues to search for the suspect who triggered the chase.
David Nelson is the first Bakersfield cop to die in the line of duty in more than 30 years.
