Fresno (KMJ) Two Visalia women are in jail and four young children are in protective custody.
Over the weekend, the mother of the girl, 30-year-old Isabel Sanchez, was arrested on suspicion of one count of child abuse. Her live-in girlfriend, 26-year-old Corina Avalos, was arrested on four counts.
According to the Visalia Police Department, police responded to their home and met with the 12 year old girl who made the call to authorities and three other children ages 7, 9 and 14, who had been home alone.
Police say two of the children had injuries consistent with child abuse. Each child said the perpetual abuse was done by their mother and her girlfriend.
The couple returned home and was taken into custody for questioning.
The children have been placed with Child Welfare Services.
